Our Alternative Learning Hub recently welcomed Oakridge Recruitment, who delivered an engaging and insightful session exploring career pathways within the construction industry.

The visit formed part of the Hub’s ongoing commitment to connecting young people with employers, helping them understand real-world opportunities and the skills needed to progress into future employment.

Oakridge Recruitment spent time with students discussing roles across the construction sector, the routes into the industry, and the range of skills that can support long-term career development.

Their visit highlights the importance of employer engagement in education settings, particularly for young people who benefit from additional support and alternative approaches to learning.

Across the UK, more than 1 million young people are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET).

For many, access to meaningful encounters with employers can be a vital turning point, helping to build confidence, raise aspirations, and open up pathways they may not previously have considered.

Opportunities like the session delivered by Oakridge Recruitment play a crucial role in bridging that gap between education and employment. By sharing their experiences and expertise, employers help young people connect learning to real-world careers and begin to see tangible next steps for their futures.

Our Alternative Learning Hub is designed to support young people to re-engage with education, develop essential life skills, and build the confidence needed to progress into further training, education or employment. Employer involvement is a key part of this journey.

Bath Rugby Foundation is extremely grateful to Oakridge Recruitment for taking the time to visit, engage with students, and support the work of the Hub.

We are also keen to hear from other businesses and individuals who would be interested in sharing their expertise with young people during Term 1 of the 2026/27 academic year. Whether through career talks, workshops, or informal discussions about their professional journey, these contributions can have a lasting impact.
