Our Programmes School and Community Projects Schools Partnership Schools Partnership Schools Partnership Schools Partnership Every child deserves the chance to take part in sport, feel part of a team and develop the confidence to succeed. Schools Partnership brings inclusive, rugby-inspired activities into schools across Bath & North East Somerset, Wiltshire and Somerset, helping children build confidence, life-skills and pathways to independence through sport and mentoring. Working with primary, secondary and SEND schools, we create safe and welcoming environments where every young person can participate, regardless of their background, ability or experience. What is Schools Partnership? Schools Partnership is the umbrella for Bath Rugby Foundation’s school and community-based programmes. Delivered in partnership with schools and community organisations, the programme uses sport as a tool to support young people who may face barriers to participation - particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), or those from underserved communities. Sessions run during the school day and can include: Inclusive PE sessions Lunchtime sports and activity clubs Small group mentoring and pastoral support School fixtures and festivals Transition opportunities into local rugby clubs and community activity Every programme is designed to help young people experience the values of rugby - teamwork, respect, resilience and enjoyment - both on and off the pitch. Who it’s for Schools Partnership supports children and young people aged 5-15 (up to 25 for SEND participants) who may benefit from inclusive sport and additional support. Young people may be referred through: Primary, secondary and SEND schools Local authorities and education partners Community organisations and charities Many of the young people we support face barriers to participation. Through this partnership, we deliver five weeks of rugby-based sessions for three schools in BANES and Somerset, each linked to a grassroots rugby club, creating pathways for these young players to engage with the sport and develop a lasting passion for rugby. Amelia, a Year 10 student at St Gregory’s School in Bath, took part in Bath Rugby Foundation sessions through our work with Maddy’s Mark. The programme uses rugby-based activities to help young people build confidence, teamwork and communication skills. Amelia sometimes finds lessons challenging, particularly English, and this has affected her confidence at school. But through the supportive environment created in the sessions, she has begun to feel more comfortable expressing herself and working with others. Each week, Amelia takes part in rugby drills, games and teamwork challenges designed to build resilience and self-belief. The sessions quickly became something she looked forward to. “My most challenging problem is my attendance. I now come into school more because I know Bath Rugby Foundation is in that day.” Through Project Rugby, Amelia has grown in confidence, built friendships and started to step outside her comfort zone. Her mum has also noticed the difference. “Amelia truly enjoys her sessions and I’ve seen her becoming more like herself again. She’s such a caring girl and I’m so grateful for the positive impact you’ve had on her.” – Hannah, Amelia’s mum Amelia’s story shows how the power of sport can help young people find their confidence and feel part of something positive.
