Every year, members of the Bath Rugby Foundation Cycling Club and other willing participants (ranging from complete beginners to "racing snakes") undertake a challenge to raise awareness and vital funds for the Bath Rugby Foundation.

Previous events have involved cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End, where participants completed 969 miles in nine days, as well as The Giant Cause Bike Ride in 2016, the French 400 in Normandy in 2017 and The Giro di Toscana in Italy in 2018.

If you are interested in joining us for Ride Mallorca 2019? Please see below for all of the information you need.

When and where will Ride Mallorca take place?

Wednesday 9th to Sunday 13th October 2019 at the five-star Zafiro Palace hotel in Alcudia, Mallorca.

What makes our rides special?

Ride leaders: We have a dedicated, returning crew of expert ride leaders who will make sure every member of their group is looked after and enjoys the trip.

Support crew #1: HITZ Learning Academy participants – Every year we take some of the young people Bath Rugby Foundation works with on the cycling trip. You'll get the chance to learn more about them and the work we do.

Support crew #2: Volunteers - we have an amazing group of volunteers who always put their hands up to assist at our events and Ride Mallorca will be no different.

Training: We have weekly training rides to ensure everyone is up to speed. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or haven't hopped onto a bike for years we'll make sure you have all the support you need in the lead up to Ride Mallorca.

What is the accommodation like?

In a word: Amazing! The Zafiro Palace Hotel is really special (click here to take a look yourself) and boasts a top rating on Trip Advisor. We have booked double and twin rooms and you can give us the name of anyone you would like to share with on the registration form when we send that out to you. If you do not have someone to pair up with, don't worry. We'll pair you up with someone suitable in a twin room. If you would prefer a single room there is a supplementary cost of £100.

The Zafiro Palace is a specialist cycling hotel - we're confident that we've picked the perfect hotel for this trip! Staff are used to groups heading back to the resort after a long day in the saddle. There are a number of swimming pools and staff will provide lane swimming for those who want to let the water revive their legs!

How much will it cost?

The total cost of the Ride Mallorca event is £1,300 per person (this price includes a £650 donation to Bath Rugby Foundation).

What are the payment options?

There are two payment options:

1. One-off payment of £1,300

2. Pay a £300 non-refundable deposit and a further £320 by the end of March. Then a balance of £680 before the event.

What is the fundraising target?

Ideally we would like everyone taking part to raise money through sponsorship. All our charity's income is generated through grants and fundraising, so we are keen to maximise the income from Ride Mallorca, which will help our work with vulnerable children in and around Bath.

We do need a deposit of £300 when riders sign up and we need an additional £320 by March, before the remaining payment of £680 is made before leaving to take part in Ride Mallorca. However, if riders want to fundraise to pay for these payments we have pages set up on this website.

Bath Rugby Foundation will also share these fundraising pages on our social media channels to try and help you. To set up a fundraising page, click this link and select Ride Mallorca 2019 from the drop down menu.

Stats show that on average 10% more is raised when your supporters set up their fundraising page as soon as they register. We would encourage riders who want to use fundraising to cover the costs of the trip to start as soon as possible as it will help cover the cost of the March payment.

What if I’m a beginner/haven’t cycled in a long time?

Ride Mallorca is an all-abilities event, so whether you are an experienced cyclist or have never cycled before – everyone is welcome! We have plenty of opportunities leading up to the event for anyone who wants to get back on the bike for the first time in a while! Our Bath Rugby Foundation Cycle Club holds weekly rides, which you're welcome to join. Please email [email protected] or visit the club's Strava page if you have any questions about this.

Your Limited-edition Ride Mallorca cycling shirt

Everyone taking part in Ride Mallorca will receive an event cycling shirt (we think 100 of you cycling round the island in these shirts will look incredible). If you would like to buy an extra shirt (or a Blue, Black and White Bath Rugby Foundation Cycle Club shirt) they are available when you book your place on the trip. A size chart is available here. However, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, be aware this is an elite size chart and we’ve been warned they are a ‘snug’ fit. So unless you want it to be skin tight we suggest ordering at least one size up if not two sizes!
