  1. Work with Us

Trustees

We're recruiting Trustees!

Please download and read through our Trustee recruitment pack before applying.

Bath Rugby Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees provides strategic leadership, robust governance, and collective accountability for our long-term success.

We are intentional about building a Board with a diverse mix of skills, perspectives, and lived experiences. This enables stronger decision-making, healthy challenge, and better outcomes for the young people we serve.

Trustees don't get involved in the day-to-day. Their role is to support, challenge, and guide, ensuring the Foundation is well led, financially sustainable, and delivering meaningful impact.

We are looking for Trustees with proven expertise in one of these areas:

•Income generation

•Communications, marketing and digital (including AI)

•Education sector, particularly links to registering independent schools

•Corporate/business leadership within the region

•Governance and risk

Why become a Trustee?

The Foundation exists because too many young people don’t get a fair start in life.

In a city like Bath, where wealth and opportunity sit side by side with real disadvantage, we work with children and young people who are at risk of falling through the gaps.

What makes us unique is our five-step pathway, supporting young people from early engagement through to employment:

1.Schools Partnership - building foundations early through team sports

2.Engage - reconnecting those starting to drift from education

3.BreakOut & Hi5 - creating belonging and positive habits at after school and holiday clubs

4.Boost - providing a different route through education

5.Advantage - supporting young people into employment and independence

As a Trustee, you will help shape and strengthen this pathway, ensuring it is not only full of heart, but also backed by the structure, evidence, and sustainability needed to change young lives.

The role:

This is an exciting role. You will:

•Be part of meaningful conversations about inequality, opportunity, and impact

•Help steer a charity with ambition, credibility, and strong partnerships

•Use your experience to make decisions that genuinely affect young people’s futures

And you will do it alongside a Board and leadership team that care deeply about our vision that ‘every child deserves a fair start in life’.

Personal qualities

We are looking for Trustees who bring:

•Commitment to improving outcomes for young people

•Integrity and sound judgement

•Strategic thinking and an ability to see the bigger picture

•Willingness to contribute, challenge, and support

•Curiosity and openness to learning

•Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

You do not need to have been a Trustee before, but you do need to be willing to engage, prepare, and contribute.

All Trustees share collective responsibility for the governance of the Foundation. This includes:

Core responsibilities:

Governance and compliance

•Ensuring the Foundation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law, and other relevant regulations

•Always acting in the best interests of the charity

•Maintaining appropriate oversight of risk, safeguarding, and regulatory responsibilities

Strategy and performance

•Contributing to and approving the Foundation’s strategic direction

•Supporting the CEO and senior team while providing constructive challenge

•Keeping sight of both the heart (impact) and the smart (evidence, structure, sustainability)

Financial oversight

•Ensuring the financial stability and sustainability

•Reviewing and understanding financial reports and risks

•Ensuring funds are used effectively and in line with charitable objectives

People, culture and reputation

•Acting as ambassadors for the Foundation and its work

•Supporting the organisation through networks, influence, and advocacy

•Protecting and enhancing the Foundation’s reputation

Board effectiveness

•Preparing for and actively contributing to Board meetings

•Bringing independent judgement and constructive challenge

•Declaring and managing conflicts of interest appropriately

•Participating in Board development, evaluation, and continuous improvement

•All Trustees commit to four Board meetings per year, committee meetings, and events where required.

Does this sound like you?

Please send your completed expression of interest form to [email protected]:

  • Deadline: 5pm on Friday May 29th
  • Interviews: Friday June 12th

Please download and read through our Trustee recruitment pack before applying.
