Our Mission Our stories Kyle Adams Kyle joined the ADVANTAGE programme after completing the PHASE programme at Bath Rugby Foundation. Unsure of his next steps and overwhelmed by the violence he saw in the news, Kyle had stopped leaving the house over the early summer holidays. Initially shy and hesitant, Kyle preferred to stay within his comfort zone, avoiding risks and new challenges. During the course, Kyle experienced a turning point when he participated in a hands-on activity at a local bakery. For the first time, he made his own bread—an experience far outside his comfort zone. With guidance and support from the ADVANTAGE team, Kyle (left) embraced the challenge, showing resilience and determination. By the end of the course, Kyle's confidence had grown significantly. During a group trip to Pen y Fan, he took on a leadership role, guiding his peers up the mountain. Opting for the tougher route, Kyle supported others, helped with navigation, and set the pace, demonstrating his transformation into a confident and proactive team member. Through the ADVANTAGE programme, Kyle developed the skills to overcome his fears, embrace challenges, and step into a leadership role. His story highlights the power of building confidence, resilience, and life skills to achieve personal growth. Alternative Learning Hub Coach, Liam Lintern, said: "At first, Kyle was hesitant to take part in new experiences and avoided stepping out of his comfort zone. But by the end of the course, he was leading others on a challenging climb up Pen y Fan. His transformation was incredible to see—he’s proof that, with the right support, anything is possible."
