Meet Morgan, whose journey with Bath Rugby Foundation began when he was just 7 years old. Now 23, he has grown into a confident, thriving young man who is deeply embedded in the Foundation community.

When Morgan first joined, he was incredibly shy and hesitant about team sports. His mum, Catherine, would stay throughout sessions to support him. But over time, through encouragement, friendship, and small successes, Morgan found his confidence. The Hi5! programme became his safe space, where he formed meaningful friendships with other participants and strong connections with Bath Rugby Foundation coaches.

Morgan’s transformation has been extraordinary. From a reserved child, he has grown into a Bath Rugby Ambassador, representing the Foundation in London to receive a prestigious award alongside Bath Rugby players and coaches. He has developed the confidence to voice his opinions, join in conversations, and embrace friendly competition.

His journey didn’t stop there. Morgan has become a vital part of our Mixed Ability Rugby team, Walcot Warriors, where he continues to push his boundaries, build his skills, and thrive as part of a team. He is also a passionate Bath Rugby supporter, always keen to watch and cheer on the team whenever he has the chance.

Morgan’s personal growth has also had a lasting impact on his family. Through the Hi5! programme, his parents have found a supportive community of their own, forging friendships and connections that make a real difference. 

Perhaps most importantly, Morgan has learned to embrace new experiences with excitement rather than hesitation. From initially struggling with team sports, he now actively seeks out new challenges. Hi5! Golf, for example, introduced him to a sport he never imagined he would enjoy – yet now, he eagerly looks forward to every session.

Morgan’s journey is a testament to the power of confidence, community, and perseverance. His transformation over the years is nothing short of inspiring, and he continues to be a shining example of what is possible when given the right opportunities and support.
