We have taken on the Matchday Kids Zone at The Rec, with last Saturday’s home game marking our first time running activities for young fans and families before kick-off. This new opportunity to be right in the heart of matchday action allows us to share more about the work we do across schools and within the wider community, and it’s something we’re incredibly excited about.

Our coaches were on hand throughout the afternoon, welcoming supporters, running fun skill-based challenges, and talking with children and young people about how sport, mentoring and positive experiences can help them thrive. It’s a brilliant way for us to connect with families, celebrate what we do and widen awareness of the support we offer.

This matchday presence complements the everyday impact we make across Bath and North East Somerset. In 2024/25 alone, Bath Rugby Foundation supported 5,475 children and young people through sport, education, mentoring and wellbeing programmes. Over 2,350 hours of physical activity were delivered, alongside 432 hours of classroom teaching - all designed to build confidence, develop life skills and create positive pathways for young people.

A core part of our work is our Schools Partnership programme, which reaches pupils aged 5–15 years old - particularly those who are disadvantaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Last year, we worked with 37 schools, embedding inclusive, sport-led activities into the school day and creating pathways into further support and club participation.

Beyond schools, our community programmes provide opportunities for young people to access sporting activity, mentoring, wraparound support, alternative education through our Alternative Learning Hub, and targeted life skills development. These interventions are open to children from all backgrounds but are especially valuable for those who face additional barriers due to socio-economic challenges, disengagement from education or special educational needs.

We couldn’t do any of this without the ongoing support of our partners, volunteers and local community - and now, with the Matchday Kids Zone, matchgoers can discover more about how we’re changing young lives right here at home.

If you’d like to get involved, there are lots of ways to help. You can volunteer with us, support a programme in schools, become a regular donor, or simply come and say hello on Match Day, we'd love to see you.
