Job Title: Casual Coach
Working hours: Flexible (based on Casual Coach’s availability)
Reporting to: Community Inclusion Officer
Responsible for: zero-hour contracted Community staff and Volunteers

Main Purpose of the Role: The Community Coach (CC), is responsible for delivering high-quality sports coaching sessions to children and young people of all ages and abilities. The CC will work closely with local schools, community centres, grassroots rugby clubs and other organisations to promote sports participation, positive behaviours, and confidence in sport and physical activity.  

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching:

  • Provide expert coaching and instruction in a variety of sports, including rugby, football, basketball, and golf.
  • Teach fundamental skills and support the development of growth mindset to all participants.
  • Encourage positive behaviours, fair play, and respect amongst children and young people.
  • Plan and create session plans, schemes of work, and resources with appropriate risk assessments in place.
  • Be the ‘head coach’ at coaching sessions and be enthusiastic to engage young children and people.
  • Be professional, punctual, and adaptable through all sports coaching sessions and activities.

Communications:

  • Foster excellent working relationships with Bath Rugby Foundation staff, volunteers, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Provide regular feedback to the Community Inclusion Officer, and the Community Manager.  

Safeguarding:

  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Uphold the Foundation’s Safeguarding procedures and policies.

Additional:

  • To undertake such other responsibilities as directed by the Community Inclusion Officer, and/or Community Manager.
  • To work in a flexible way when the occasion arises so that tasks not specifically covered in the job description are undertaken.
  • To assess and take responsibility for one’s own performance.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner (both in person and online).

These are the key tasks as currently defined. It is expected that this job description will be regularly reviewed and may be amended from time to time by mutual agreement to meet changing circumstances.

Locations & Availability:

  • Bath & surrounding areas
  • All week availability

Requirements:

  • Level 2 England Rugby Coaching Award (or equivalent)
  • A valid driving licence and access to transport
  • Must be aged 16+
  • The Foundation is committed to safeguarding our participants. All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced check.
Pay: £12.50-£20 per hour.

Casual Coaches are expected to submit an invoice to [email protected] once a month, and when the sessions have been completed. Please note that under a zero-hour contract, you are not entitled to sick pay, annual leave, or time in lieu, as per the terms and conditions of your agreement.
