Designed to challenge perceptions and encourage more inclusive thinking, the day gave leaders the opportunity to step outside the boardroom and fully immerse themselves in the work we do to support young people. The experience began with a safeguarding briefing, followed by open and honest discussions around EDI, led by our team. These sessions created space for reflection, conversation, and a deeper understanding of the barriers many young people face. Leaders then spent time alongside our Alternative Learning Hub students, taking part in classroom-based activities and seeing first-hand how we create supportive, engaging learning environments. This was followed by an inclusive rugby session, where participants joined our players on the pitch to experience how small, thoughtful adaptations can make sport accessible and enjoyable for all. By learning with our young people and participants, the group gained a unique perspective on inclusion in practice - not just as a concept, but as something that can be embedded into everyday environments, whether in education, sport, or the workplace. The day concluded with a reflection session, giving leaders the opportunity to share their thoughts, ask questions, and consider how they can take their learning back into their own organisation. A huge thank you to everyone who made the day possible; including our staff team for delivering such impactful sessions, our Alternative Learning Hub students for their honesty and enthusiasm, and Graham Abbey for working with us to organise the day. We are also incredibly grateful to Kee Safety for fully embracing the experience and engaging so openly throughout. If your organisation is looking to move beyond theory and experience inclusion in action, our ‘Lose the Labels’ training offers a unique, hands-on approach to EDI.
