Highlighting the impact of
YMCA Bath NightStop & DayStop

ADVANTAGE students learn about future employment opportunities from visiting YMCA employees.

At Bath Rugby Foundation, we believe in changing young people's lives and creating opportunities for them to thrive. We recently had the privilege of hosting a visit from the YMCA Bath NightStop & DayStop team, who shared their invaluable insights and support with our ADVANTAGE members.

Bath NightStop & DayStop, a key service of the YMCA, works directly with young people aged 18-25 in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) who are at risk of becoming homeless. They also extend their support and advice to young people aged 16-18, providing a critical safety net and a beacon of hope for many.

During their visit to The Hub, the NightStop & DayStop team engaged our ADVANTAGE members in meaningful conversations about future employment opportunities. These discussions left a lasting impact on our young participants. One student, Ash, reflected on the experience: “It was a really helpful session for me to hear about potential future job opportunities.”

Our expert volunteer, Pete, who is helping to deliver our ADVANTAGE five-week course, also highlighted the value of this interaction: “It was great to make connections with the YMCA, who run the NightStop & DayStop programme, and hear them explain to our ADVANTAGE members how they can bridge the gap to access employment.”

The visit from NightStop & DayStop is part of a broader effort to build strong partnerships that can make a real difference in the lives of young people. According to the YMCA Bath NightStop & DayStop 2023 Impact Report, the programme provided a staggering 347 bed nights of safe accommodation, supported 98 young people through mediation and family work, and engaged with 235 young people through outreach and drop-in services.

These impressive figures underscore the critical role that NightStop & DayStop plays in our community. Their work not only addresses immediate needs to help young people in B&NES but also fosters long-term resilience and self-sufficiency among young people at risk of homelessness.

Partnerships like the one between Bath Rugby Foundation and YMCA Bath NightStop & DayStop are vital in shining a spotlight on opportunities and creating pathways for young people to succeed.

By working together, we can change lives and build a brighter future for our youth in B&NES.
