I have been volunteering at Bath Rugby Foundation since I was 12 years old and working on the Breakout programme since I was 17. I began working at the ALH on the Engage pilot programme last April and it has been an amazing learning experience; I have been able to say yes to opportunities I didn’t think I have would the chance to do until I was much older. I began on Engage 2 days a week, working alongside the Lead Coach and Officer to deliver personalised sports and wellbeing sessions. Helping young people develop social skills, emotional resilience and cultivating an environment that makes young people excited to learn.

The Engage project has been on a journey of development this year, as we bring on new students, we learn more about the variety of needs that young people are dealing with today. One of my main focuses this year has been looking at these challenges and adapting our programme to fit our young people's needs and to ensure they get the most out of their time with us. Alongside the delivery of educational workshops, sports sessions and enrichment activities.

This year I was offered the exciting opportunity to step into the role of BANES Engage AP Officer; this has given me the chance to develop my administrative and management skills. It is my first time managing a small team of people and it’s been a pleasure to do so. From conferences and volunteering at events, to developing my personal skill set and the Engage programme, my journey so far with BRF has been one of learning, progressing and implementing. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Engage and myself here at BRF.
