Caiden & Kadie's Summer BreakOut Experience

Siblings Caiden and Kadie have struggled with the normality of life since lockdown. Stuck at home for months without the routine of school or the company of friends, the isolation took a toll on them and their single mother. Desperate for a break, their mum signed them up for our Summer BreakOut Camp after receiving a school email promoting it to families eligible for free school meals.

A transformative experience

On their first day, Caiden and Kadie were uncertain and reluctant. However, the warm and engaging atmosphere of the camp quickly changed their minds. Caiden was immediately drawn into a football game with one of the coaches, while Kadie, encouraged to try new foods, joined in the activities. Their mum, finally getting a chance to relax, watched with relief as her children participated enthusiastically.

A lifeline for the family

Initially signed up for just one session, the family ended up attending 13 sessions over four weeks, totaling 26 hours of invaluable engagement. The camp provided not just a break for their mum, but also a much-needed routine and social interaction for the children. Their mum even joined in some physical activities, feeling more energised and motivated as a result.

The positive impact

By the end of the camp, Caiden and Kadie were choosing to attend the BreakOut sessions over other camps. Their mum noticed a remarkable calmness at home after the morning sessions, and the children were excited about returning to school.

The Summer BreakOut Camp became a true lifeline, offering relief and joy to the entire family.
