Ocean Smith, aged 5, and her brother Dylan Curtis, aged 10, siblings who joined the BreakOut Holiday Camps for the first time this summer at the Castle BreakOut Hub. Dylan has autism, and both children come from a single-parent household with three children in total. Their mum doesn’t drive, making access to activities like BreakOut crucial for the family during the holidays. For Dylan and Ocean, BreakOut offers more than just fun activities—it gives them the structure and respite they need during the school holidays. Without the camp, they would likely spend their time at home, isolated and without the social interaction they benefit from at BreakOut. Their mum, who is financially responsible for three children, greatly appreciates the opportunity for some personal time, knowing her children are in a safe and supportive environment. Community Coach Ellie, noted, "Ocean and Dylan's mum has told me how much giving Dylan structure at BreakOut has really helped to regulate him when he's at home, where he sometimes struggles to express emotions due to his Autism. "It is a joy to have them both at BreakOut. If they were at home, they would have no structure or anywhere to go and be with children their age." The BreakOut Holiday Camps have made a significant difference in the lives of Ocean and Dylan, providing them with a safe space to grow, learn, and enjoy their holidays. For their mum, the camp offers much-needed support, ensuring that her children have a positive and structured environment to thrive in during the summer break. Manage Cookie Preferences
